How do you create a gold text/image effect in Illustrator?

I have searched on google but haven't found something good enough to use. Would appreciate if you could tell me how to create a gold effect or a GOOD link would be good too.





I have created a logo element in Illustrator and so i need it to be in gold as well as the text that goes with it.





Is it possible to create this in illustrator or would i have to use photoshop? I don't really like using photoshop....

Firstly, Illustrator has a Metallic PMS color swatch set. Look through Illustrator's help file on how to load the Metallic Swatches.

gel is like plastic toothpaste. it has transparent qualities. the gold sheen, on the other hand, would not. The metal would have layering like it takes with the gel. Metal is high contrast without transparency.

good luck. I like another tool called Xara to do this because of it's real-time transparency adjustment tool. Keep on with what you are doing, but really, just look at the gallery at the link below.
