What classes should someone who wants to be an illustrator take in college?

The title pretty much says it all. I'm guessing art classes, but what else? My dream is to be an illustrator. Thanks! What classes should someone who wants to be an illustrator take in college?
Look for an art or design department that specifically has an illustration major. The fine arts faculty are sometimes dismissive of illustration; the design faculty are not focused upon it as the primary problem-solving skill. You need to work with illustration faculty.

Beyond that, courses in business and marketing can't hurt. Public speaking can't hurt because you need persuasive skill to promote yourself and your work. Then a range of liberal studies is good too because that assists in providing ideas for development of your illustrations.

In short, find a university with a good illustration program, and take advantage of the breadth of university courses while you refine your visual skills.

Check out this website; it has good information for students.

Good luck!
