I'm looking for an illustrator in the So Cal area to help me create an idea I have for a comic book. This is an idea that has a lot of marketing potential, but I need a really good artist that is looking to team up with a creative mind to go 50/50 in building an empire.Does anyone know of a good comic illustrator?
If you know people in the industry, ask for referrals: personal introductions and word of mouth are the best way to approach such things.
However, I suspect that a good/ read: established artist might no got for a deal where he/she would have to sell the stuff to someone AFTER it's done.
If you're ideas are really good, why don't you pitch them to a comic book magazine: if they like them they will find someone to team you up with in their stable.
However, if you want to go it alone, worst case scenario: ad on craigslist or in a local paper: that's how music bands sometimes approach new member selection, so why not give it a shot? There is a lot of free-lance artists in SoCal and I am sure, they use Craigslist for their jobs every now and then....Does anyone know of a good comic illustrator?
Here's a thought before you go further. Good comic illustrators need to eat. That means they need money. Developing (heck, even just drawing) a comic book takes a lot of time and effort, and not a lot of people can do that for ';free.'; It's just something to think about as you go into this.
