Illustrator cs3 How do I create a stroke around a stroke?

Not sure if that is the right terminology...But lets say I have some text, and I've created a stroke around the text in a different color. I would then like to further add another color around the current stroke, so I have 2 colors outlining the text. Any suggestions?Illustrator cs3 How do I create a stroke around a stroke?
One easy way to do this is, after adding the stroke, add an outer glow and turn the spread all the way up, adjusting the size and color to fit your taste. You could also convert the text layer to a ';smart object'; and simply add another stroke. Finally you could add a new blank layer and merge it with your text layer, then add a stroke to that layer. All three of these work, the last would probably be the easiest and closest to what you want.Illustrator cs3 How do I create a stroke around a stroke?
A trick that I use is to copy and paste the text, enlarge it slightly then place it behind the text you want aligning it so that the edges are only showing then change it to the colour you want. Hopefully only the edges will show looking as if it has another stroke outline. Hope that makes sense :)
