What is the difference between a Graphics Designer and and Graphics Illustrator?

What can one do and the other can't? I just know there's two separate programs for them.What is the difference between a Graphics Designer and and Graphics Illustrator?
*Graphic Illustrator


Conceptualizes, paints and draws images used in a variety of materials and publications. Must be able to convert complex and abstract ideas into compelling visuals. Specialized illustrators may possess expertise in areas such as technical, medical, architectural, scientific and cartoon illustrations. In addition to artistic talent, may require knowledge of design programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Painter and Flash.





*Graphic Designer


Creates high-impact designs intended to engage, attract and sell. Develops or acquires the images used in a variety of creative projects, including advertisements, brochures, catalogs, direct mail, corporate identity, packaging, presentations, websites, promotional displays and signage. Also responsible for the design, layout and formatting of materials. Designs may integrate typographic, photographic, illustrative and other elements. Must have a strong sense of concept development, in addition to communication, research, problem-solving and presentation skills. Design ability and proficiency in software applications such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and QuarkXPress is required. Web design skills are preferred.





Some people choose to be trained to do both because it gives them more flexibility in there careers.What is the difference between a Graphics Designer and and Graphics Illustrator?
From my understanding Graphic Designers design websites and design the layout of things~ Graphic Illustrators draw the image that the Graphic Designer might make more ';WOW!';.
a graphic designer designs the stuff but a graphic illustrator is the one who draws it
